Tariq Lamptey supports Asamankese schools with football gear donations.

On Tuesday, May 30, Tariq Lamptey, a defender for the Black Stars, visited Asamankese with his charity organization, the Tariq Lamptey Foundation, to donate to two schools as part of his annual charity work in Ghana.

Tariq started this initiative five years ago during his time at Chelsea and continues to carry it out every year.

He is currently in Ghana for a short holiday before starting pre-season training for the 2023/24 season with Brighton and Hove Albion.

The purpose of the visit to Asamankese was to support the town's immense talent and show appreciation for the continuous support from Ghanaians.

Two schools in the town, Freedom Methodist School and Wesley Methodist School, received donations of football equipment and Brighton's home and away kits.

Before the donation, there was a ceremonial game between two Division Three League teams: Young Kotoko Football Club and Nana Kodie Football Club. Young Kotoko won the game with a score of 1-0, and Prince Atsu was awarded Best Player of the fixture.

Tariq Lamptey gifted him a pair of football boots at the end of the game. Both teams also received Brighton's 2022/23 kits to be used in their subsequent games.

After the donation, Tariq Lamptey expressed his gratitude and said, "Thank you for having me. Thank you for the opportunity to be here. There was some great talent on show.

Hopefully, this is the first of many. I feel like there is an opportunity to help the kids, and everybody deserves a chance."

The traditional leaders of the area, including the Chief, and the National Ambulance Service, as well as other security personnel, were present at the event.
