A young commercial motorcycle (okada) rider is fighting for his life after a brutal machete attack in Diaso, in the Central Region.
The 18-year-old victim, whose identity has been withheld, was allegedly assaulted by a jealous boyfriend in broad daylight.
According to preliminary reports, the horrifying incident stemmed from a simple, momentary interaction. The suspect's girlfriend reportedly sat on the young rider's lap, triggering an extreme and immediate fit of rage from her partner.
Confronted by the boyfriend, the okada rider was quickly surrounded and attacked. Witnesses describe the suspect wielding a machete, with which he slashed the victim multiple times, causing severe and potentially life-threatening injuries. The young rider was later rushed to a local health facility for emergency care.
This shocking overreaction has sent waves of outrage and fear through the Diaso community. Local residents and members of the Okada Riders
Association are calling for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the perpetrator, emphasizing that jealousy and violence cannot be tolerated.
The unprovoked and vicious nature of the attack has heightened existing concerns about the safety of commercial riders, who often face risks in their daily work.
