Wontumi was re-elected as Ashanti Regional Board Chair NPP.

Bernard Antwi-Bwasiakou, the current Ashanti regional president of the New   Patrotic Party (NPP), retained his seat.

This is the third time that President Wontumi, as he is popularly called, has secured the seat.

President Wontumi first won the office in 2022 and was re-elected in last 6 years. Prior to that, he was the constituency chief of Bosomtwe.

He received 464 votes against that of his closest rival, President Odeneho Kwaku Appiah (COKA), who received 306 votes and entered the presidential race, having served as constituency president for Afigya Kwabre South for nearly 20 years.

In this year's elections, his contenders were Asari Pediakou, Odinho Kwaku Appiah, Osu Adumi and Ohinba Kofi Adom Bawa.

Robert Asari Pediako, the former Asokwa constituency chief who entered the competition for the second time, came in third with 20 votes. On his first attempt in 2018, he pulled out of the race at the last minute to let Wontumi pass unopposed.

Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, a former Member of Parliament for Ejisu, who lost his re-election bid as MP in 2019, lost to Dr. John Komah, was entering the regional contest for the first time and placed fourth with nine votes.
Ohnba Coffee Adom Poah got three votes for fifth place.
