Asantewaa Shares Her Battle with Sickle Cell Anemia and Family Loss

Ghanaian TikToker and content creator, Asantewaa, disclosed a deeply personal aspect of her life recently – unbeknownst to the public, she grapples with sickle cell anemia.
In a candid Youtube video, Asantewaa shared the intimate details of her family's struggle with the illness. 


Out of six children, five boys and herself as the only girl, only three survived into adulthood due to sickle cell complications.


Addressing a fan's query about her relationship and genotype discovery, Asantewaa used the opportunity to enlighten her audience about the implications of sickle cell anemia in relationships.
She sternly cautioned her followers against marrying someone with the same carrier status, emphasizing the potential risks of bringing children into the world who might endure similar suffering.


Asantewaa candidly described the hurdles she encounters due to her condition, notably excruciating joint pain during crisis episodes.


Recalling a challenging experience of writing an exam while hospitalized and unable to walk due to a sickle cell crisis, she highlighted the impact of the disease on her life.

Additionally, Asantewaa revealed that her well-known brother, Kay Verli, also contends with sickle cell anemia.
