Kaywa speaks out for the first time on Mr Drew's departure from Highly Spiritual Records.

One of the most significant developments is the departure of Mr. Drew from Highly Spiritual after the exhaustion of his five-year deal. While it may have been a shock to some, the team at Highly Spiritual has taken this news in stride.

In a recent interview, Kaywa, the founder of Highly Spiritual, shared his thoughts on Mr. Drew's departure. Despite being disappointed, he expressed his understanding of the artist's desire to explore new opportunities.

"Mr. Drew exhausted his five-year deal with Highly Spiritual. But we thought we still had the strength to still work with him, but he said he wanted to look in a different direction, so we allowed him to go," he said.

Kaywa's response is indicative of the music industry's current trend of allowing artists to take control of their careers. Rather than holding onto artists and restricting their creative expression, labels and management teams are now becoming more flexible and supportive of their artists' decisions. This shift has resulted in more collaborations and cross-genre experimentation, leading to the creation of fresh and exciting music.

Furthermore, the music industry in Ghana is also witnessing an increase in the number of independent artists who are making a name for themselves. With the rise of digital platforms and social media, artists are now able to reach a wider audience without the need for a major label. This has resulted in a more diverse music scene, with artists from different backgrounds and genres gaining recognition.

In conclusion, the year 2023 is shaping up to be an exciting time for the music industry in Ghana. With the departure of Mr. Drew from Highly Spiritual and the rise of independent artists, we can expect to see more collaborations, experimentation, and diversity in the music scene. As always, we look forward to seeing what the future holds for Ghanaian music.
