"Shatta Wale saved my life when I was depressed and about to hurt myself" - Fella Makafui confesses.

Ghanaian movie maker, Fella Makafui shared that she acquired the ability to disregard those who criticize her on social media after a particular occurrence left her feeling depressed.

During an interview on 3FM, she disclosed that she came close to attempting suicide several years ago when a sex tape was leaked.

Fella Makafui remarked that despite not being the individual in the video, as the public was led to believe, the opinions of others at the time affected her so much that she did not verify the video's authenticity.

Recounting how she learned of the tape's existence, she stated that "my manager contacted me and said, 'Precious, I know you wouldn't do this, but I want you to be honest with me. There's a tape out there, is it you?' And I replied, 'What? Where? Never!' So I convinced myself that I couldn't handle it anymore."

Fella Makafui went on to say that despite viewing the video, she was taken aback by the news and only noticed that she resembled the girl in question and nothing else.

"I was mainly concerned about what people were saying about me. But then I thought to myself, I didn't do that, this is false, so why is it spreading?" she explained.

"I was so messed up, I cried so much. At around 11 pm, Shatta called and said, 'Mummy, mummy, forget, forget,' and then he sent me the link.

"Apparently, it's a couple on Twitter that shoots those videos, and the girl had a tattoo on her back. And I didn't even notice that because I was so invested in what people were saying about me," she said.

Fella Makafui added, "If Shatta hadn't sent the link, I would have believed it and killed myself. If you recall, he went on social media and blasted people, then shared the link to confirm that I wasn't the victim."

The actress stated that she has learned to not pay attention to people's opinions of her on social media since the incident.

"They don't know me, they can't judge me, and I'm not going to allow them to determine or dictate what I should or shouldn't do," she added.
